Clear Ideas and Thick Chocolate April 22, 2010
I’m up late, and of course thinking about chocolate. (What else???) So what better way to start off this blog post than with this Spanish proverb: “Las cosas claras y el chocolate espeso. (Ideas should be clear and chocolate thick.)” It comes up a bit different in Google Translate, but you get the point.
Thankfully, when working with chocolate, both hold true for me. :) I have some very clear ideas about my chocolate; the way it should taste, look, feel, etc. I also have very clear ideas and goals for my company, and I am very excited about some upcoming events and opportunities! In the very near future, Sweet Nothings Chocolate Co. will be a vendor at the “Eco-Chic Wedding on a Budget” bridal show. This evening, on Earth Day, Sweet Nothings Chocolates were a part of another ‘green’ cause, the “Dirty Martinis for Clean Water” party and silent auction hosted by Renaissance Aveda Salon and Spa at the Hotel Monaco. This summer, beginning June 20th, Sweet Nothings will be selling at the Stapleton Farmer’s Market (come look for us!). Not to mention that I feel so fortunate to be able to provide beautiful and unique chocolate wedding favors to several happy couples who will be getting married this summer! I love weddings. :) Who doesn’t?
And then of course, there is the chocolate itself. I am more than thrilled about my new flavors, the new approach to purchasing through my website, and all the beautiful new photos taken by the extremely talented Dominique Lucas of Fall Child Photography. If you haven’t been there lately (or even if you have!), please visit my newly re-vamped site and let me know what you think! www.sweetnothingschocolateco.com
I am always receptive to other’s thoughts, so if you have any ideas, questions or comments, (or you just want some thick chocolate), drop me a line at email@example.com, or leave a comment below! I look forward to hearing from you.

Starting up the blog again… April 16, 2010
Hey all, I’m back to blogging! Until I can figure out a nice pretty way to have my blog on my website, I’ll be linking to it instead.
Being that it is spring now, I’ve been getting into gardening. In the food category, I’ve got a planter full of herb seedlings such as basil, chives, cilantro, rosemary and Italian parsley. I’m also growing strawberries and tomatoes. In the flower category I planted some Begonia bulbs, a bleeding heart plant, and a little planter full of wildflowers for my daughter to watch grow.
My watering strategy has been a little off… to say the least. I’ve been trying to spray my little seedlings gently, but I end up doing it 3 or so times a day. So tonight I created the best little watering ‘can’. I took a used plastic cup, punched 3 holes in the bottom, and Voila! a watering can. There you go, my attempt at being ‘green’, aside from the actual gardening. ;)
So what does this have to do with chocolate you ask? Well, right now my life revolves around my family and my chocolate business. So having access to fresh food for both is an important thing for me. So is trying to be frugal, and attempting to educate myself (i.e. knitting, cooking, blogging, building a website…,) to be a better mom and business owner. For my personal life and my business, especially nowadays, being frugal and resourceful is extremely important.
That, in a nutshell, is also why I will be a vendor at the “Eco Chic Wedding on a Budget” Bridal Show at the Temple Event Center on May 15th. Free and open to the public, this will be a great event with wine tasting, food tasting, and great vendors and info on having an “eco chic” wedding on the cheap. Register here for the event, and be entered to win your wedding free!!!
